UN's Sustainable Development Goals

We all share a responsibility for making the world a better place to live. We alone cannot save the planet but we can make a small yet subtle difference through our actions.

Certified to all 17 Global Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals were signed by all member states in 2015 as a joint call for action to do away with poverty, protect our planet, and guarantee peace and prosperity for all humans before the year 2030.
In the spring of 2021, we were certified by Bureau Veritas to all 17 global goals, as the first company in our category. The certification carefully inspects the company and makes an assessment of its values, behavior, and future plans in relation to the 17 global goals.

On behalf of these analyses and our assessments, we have chosen to focus on eight out of the 17 goals with five as our main priority and three as a secondary priority. We have chosen these goals because we here have the most substantial impact and influence – both nationally and internationally.

Below, you will find some examples of how we support our eight goals.
MAIN PRIORITY

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Good hygiene is key to maintaining a clean and healthy environment that prevents bacteria and viruses from spreading.

As a manufacturer of effective and allergy-friendly Home Care products, we give consumers access to reasonably priced hygiene products that help improve cleanliness and proper health worldwide.

As a way of promoting healthy living in our own country, we support The Christmas Seal Home in Hobro. The Christmas Seal is a charitable organization that promotes well-being among children who are challenged in various ways.
MAIN PRIORITY

6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

In order to take proper care of our environment, it is vital that waste from private homes and from production facilities does cause harm to nature and our surrounding environment.

We make sure to develop products without harmful chemicals, and we distribute them to markets across the globe. In addition, we compact and concentrate our products to save on water (and transportation).

In order to safeguard our domestic water supply, we do not discharge untreated waste water from our manufacturing site.
MAIN PRIORITY

9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

We are ”first movers” with sustainable innovation in our field. We lead the way and work together with universities, students, and research institutes about new innovative measures.

We participate in various projects with external stakeholders to support our efforts in Innovation and Sustainability. Here are some examples:

• Publicly funded projects supported by the Danish Environment Agency (MUDP) or the Danish Innovation Fund (For example to develop new quality standards for recycled plastics).

• Research projects with Universities in Denmark and abroad (For example to test and evaluate surfactants).

• Research collaborations with start-up companies.

• Cross-industrial collaborations to support and develop products and more sustainable supply chains (For example creating a circular supply chain with recycled plastics).
MAIN PRIORITY

12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

We are very focused on our own waste management and promote the use of circularity in our manufacturing. We offer guidance about and promote the use of recycled plastic.

We even take into account the fact that consumers need to get rid of the plastic afterwards, so we work that into the equation.

We support the certifications in our field that are known by consumers – we do not develop or introduce our own certifications.
MAIN PRIORITY

15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

All our cardboard complies with FSC® that supports responsible forest management.

We buy RSPO Mass Balance raw materials, which means we care about biodiversity and help protect fragile ecosystems.
SECONDARY PRIORITIES
5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
At Nopa Nordic, we treat each other with mutual respect and equal salary, regardless of gender.

There are many women in the management, and there is an equal number of men and women on the board.
7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
We buy our electricity via wind certificates and support the green transition to wind power and fossil-free energy production. We use district heating with the heat made from wood chips, a waste product from sustainable forestry.

The heat is CO2 neutral because the trees are replanted, and the new forests absorb the CO2 that is emitted by the wood chip production. Forty percent of the district heating is surplus heat from other types of production.
17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
We are part of a long line of network groups and collaborations, that help promote sustainability. Network groups, such as the Dansk Initiativ for Etisk Handel, which deal with RSPO and the Global Compact.

Furthermore, we have several sustainable partners, e.g., local plast.
