UN's Sustainable Development Goals

Innovation, responsibility and continuous improvement are important drivers in our development.
Through product development, production and collaboration, we continuously work to turn ambitions into actions.

Certified to all 17 Global Goals

In 2021, we became the first company in our category to be certified by Bureau Veritas in relation to all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The certification assesses values, behaviour and future commitments in relation to the Global Goals and their 169 targets.

Based on this assessment, we have identified eight goals where we believe we can make the greatest contribution through our activities, products and partnerships.

Below, you can explore examples of how these priorities are reflected in our work today.
MAIN PRIORITY

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Good hygiene is key to maintaining a clean and healthy environment that helps prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses.

As a manufacturer of effective and allergy-friendly Home Care products, we give consumers access to reasonably priced hygiene products that support cleanliness and everyday well-being.

We also support initiatives that promote health, well-being and opportunities for children and young people. In Denmark, we support The Christmas Seal Home in Hobro, which helps children strengthen their well-being, confidence and social relationships.

Beyond Denmark, we support Anne Grethe School in The Gambia, contributing to education, meals and local development initiatives that help create opportunities for children and young people.
MAIN PRIORITY

6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

We continuously work with ingredient selection and product development with a focus on applicable regulations, quality and customer needs.

In addition, we offer concentrated product formats that can help reduce water consumption in transportation and logistics.
MAIN PRIORITY

9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Innovation and collaboration are important drivers in our development. We work closely with universities, students and research institutes to explore new technologies and support the development of future product solutions.

We participate in various projects with external stakeholders to support innovation, product development and continuous improvement. Examples include:

• Publicly funded projects supported by the Danish Environment Agency (MUDP) or the Danish Innovation Fund (For example to develop new quality standards for recycled plastics).

• Research projects with Universities in Denmark and abroad (For example to test and evaluate surfactants).

• Research collaborations with start-up companies.

• Cross-industrial collaborations to support and develop products and more sustainable supply chains (For example creating a circular supply chain with recycled plastics).

MAIN PRIORITY

12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

We focus on responsible waste management and continuously work to strengthen existing and integrate additional circular principles into our production.

We provide guidance on the use of recycled plastic and work to promote the use of recycled materials where relevant. At the same time, we consider the life cycle of packaging and how it is handled after use.

We support recognised certification schemes that are well known to consumers and relevant to our industry.
MAIN PRIORITY

15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

We use FSC®-certified carton and work with raw materials that support responsible forestry.

We use RSPO Mass Balance-certified palm kernel oil. In this way, we support a more responsible palm oil supply chain while taking biodiversity and vulnerable ecosystems into consideration.

SECONDARY PRIORITIES
5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
At Nopa Nordic, we treat each other with mutual respect and equal salary, regardless of gender.

There are many women in the management, and there is an equal number of men and women on the board.
7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
We buy our electricity via wind certificates and support the green transition to wind power and fossil-free energy production. We use district heating with the heat made from wood chips, a waste product from sustainable forestry.

The heat is CO2 neutral because the trees are replanted, and the new forests absorb the CO2 that is emitted by the wood chip production. Forty percent of the district heating is surplus heat from other types of production.
17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
We are part of a number of networks and collaborations that support responsible development and knowledge sharing. Networks such as the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative work with topics including RSPO and the UN Global Compact.

In addition, we collaborate with a range of organisations and companies on specific initiatives, including local plastic streams and other projects focused on circular solutions and resource efficiency.
